Are You Dating Your Husband?

Do You Date? This may seem like an odd question for a woman who is married or in a long-term committed relationship. However, it may be more important than asking someone who's single.

If you're not careful and diligent, marriage can bring about mundane times and you get stuck in the routines of everyday life.

No love is lost, but new excitement isn't around either.

The solution? Date!

Think back to your single years or when you and your boo where just starting out. Every relationship is different but more times than not, there was a lot of excitement and anticipation when it came to hanging out. What will we do this weekend? Should I wear sexy undergarments, "just in case?"

Why should this stop just because you're married or are in a long-term relationship? It shouldn't!

Dating your long-term partner is one of the most important things you can do to foster a healthy and sustainable relationship. I actually like married dating much more than I ever did when I was single.

There's less stress, no pressure, you can eat as much as you want, and the best part, no judgment if the party continues in the bedroom, or couch, or kitchen.

Ok, dating is important, but what does that look like once you're married or kids get involved?

Dating while married may take a little more scheduling than it used too, but not much! You and your partner can a set weekend or day of the week that you both know to mark as busy on your calendars.

Date At Home

Dates don't always require leaving the house! If you are saving money, or have trouble finding a babysitter, at-home dates are a great option! You can cook a romantic dinner together, watch a movie, orget creative, the possibilities are endless. If you have kids, plan a late-night dessert session with conversation starters once the kids have gone to bed.

Ok, this may be so millennial of me, but it is the best thing I have ever discovered! DateBox is a subscription box for couples! They send tailored dates to you every month! If you choose one of the packages (starting at $30 per month) you get everything you need for your date! Elijah and I loved our first date so much! They sent us the ingredients to make cozy snacks, conversation starters, and an escape room challenge! The best part about the box, you don't know what it is until you open it! When you sign up you take a quiz so they know what sort of things to send you.

It really doesn't matter how you and your partner date, the important thing, is that you spend quality time together outside of Netflix. Nothing is wrong with these activities, they just don't allow for deep and insightful conversation about each other. The goal is to reconnect and to remind yourselves why you fell in love and chose each other as life partners.

Also, adding a little spice and mixing things up every once in a while never hurt anybody!

Do you and your partner still date? What sort of date activities do you all do? Let me know!
